”The Call of the Crown II” was a Warhammer Fantasy painting challenge run by Gert-Jan van Heugten at GJ’s Workshop and hosted by Joshua van Z at the Crown of Command podcast. This page details my endeavours during the second edition of the challenge (2022-2023).

Month 1 (October)

Here’s my finished unit for October!

10 Chaos Dwarf Warriors – 140 points

It was a bit of a challenge to get these monopose minis to rank up, but I solved this by removing the tabs and gluing them to bases without slots. I wrote numbers underneath the bases so that I could then arrange them correctly in the unit. These weren’t my favourite models to paint, but I’m pretty happy with the end result!

Month 2 (November)

Here’s my finished unit for November! A Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer riding a Lammasu – 259 points

This model is an all-time favourite of mine, and it was a blast to finally get to paint it! I tried to mostly stick with the GW Studio colour scheme, but I painted the wings black instead of red. It was a bit tricky to find a good method for the black skin, but in the end I settled for a basecoat of Abaddon black, a layer of Corvus black, and a highlight of Dark reaper.

Month 3 (December)

10 Chaos Dwarf Blunderbusses with standard bearer and musician for 168 points.

Month 4 (January)

My January output: Two Bull Centaurs (including a standard bearer) for 123 points. I was originally going to paint five, but I could only manage these two.
